Vampire Contest Winner Sue Midlock

May 25th, 2010

Vampire Contest Winner Sue Midlock

I recently created a contest on fine art america (something i love participating in on fine art). The contest was titled VAMPIRES, it saw many great pieces by many great artists but only 1 winner! That winner was Sue Midlock, with her drawing titled ‘Requiem’. Sue is a full time illustrator and creates some very sweet illustrations as well as some lovely drawings.

You can see her work at fine art america here ( http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/sue-midlock.html?page=2 )

as well as her website Sue’s Zentacular Art and Illustrations. ( http://suesart.weebly.com/index.html )

The Detailed pattern work in her Zentacular drawings is beautiful and the colours she has used work together so nicely. On her FAA page you will find photography to accompany her drawings and illustrations. Thankyou Sue!

A Nun a Gun and a Prostitute Posters

Sean King has recently placed 6 poster designs up on the facebook group for the mini series ‘A Nun a Gun and a Prostitute’ (filming June 2010).
The posters look great! The producers, Sean King of ‘Sean King Photographer Filmmaker’ and Mat Zilm of ‘Zilm Enterprises’ are looking for constructive comments on the poster designs to help choose the best one.
So head over to the ANAGAAP Page and be involved!

About The Mini Series…
With the provisional title of A Nun a Gun and a Prostitute, the series begins by bringing together a collection of characters, each battling their very own demons (and all interlocked into each others lives). The result of these characters converging and colliding sends our main character Nostalgia (played by Vanessa Bockmann) on a journey which thrusts her into a quest for not only her own, but the morality of the younger generations. Nostalgia is portrayed as an almost modern day “Joan of Arc” as she continues toward a destiny dictated by the ills of past and the promise of hope

Alice in Wonderland Review

May 9th, 2010

Alice in Wonderland Review

Yes! I have had so much excitement and expectation for this film for so long, and now that I have seen it, yes! I am happy to announce, I enjoyed it thoroughly and will be watching it all over again for many years to come.

The director Tim Burton, never ceases to amaze me with his brilliant characters and beautifully created worlds that I just float right into, away from reality.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp make a magnificent team. I was thrilled, as many would, to see the outstanding Johnny Depp play one of my most favourite characters, the mad hatter! brilliant!

Many people have tried to put their spin on Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’, and many people have not lived up to the story’s greatness. Tim burton was the right person in so many ways for making this film, which is set later in Alice’s life (a 19 year old Alice) when she falls back in (to a dysfunctional Wonderland / Underland), having forgotten her previous visits.

In all other ‘Alice in Wonderland’ reviews I have read, people appear to either LOVE the Film or LOATHE it. I guess that just proves its genius

The casting was fantastic (Mia Wasikowska is a perfect Alice), the costumes made me drool (with love), Tim Burton’s dark humour was at its best and the ending was just perfect!

Tim Burtons Alice in wonderland

May 9th, 2010

Tim Burtons Alice in wonderland

Tim Burton is definitely high in my list of favorite filmmakers (among Quentin Tarantino and the one and only Sean King), and the story of Alice in Wonderland is my favorite story of all time, so naturally, i am VERY excited about Tim Burtons new film, Alice in Wonderland which is coming out soon!

And to carry on with my own ‘Alice in Wonderland’ obsession, i am in the process of creating new paintings following this theme. The first of which, is a scene of the Mad Hatter and his tea (my favorite character).

All of you Alice in Wonderland fans should keep an eye on the website (gallery.seankingonline.com) throughout this year for my Alice paintings, and if you haven’t seen the photographs yet, head to -photography by kelly jade- to see the tea party and the red painted roses which i had the pleasure of creating last year.

Caroline Blanchemain

May 9th, 2010

I came across this incredible artist by the name of Caroline Blanchemain on the ‘art market’ website “fine art america“.

I instantly became a fan of Caroline’s work. The french artist works her own unique style and technique into artworks that ooze with entertainment.

Her latest works, named “Tronches De Vie” are my favorite of her works. The introduction to them is written in french and unfortunately I cannot read french but my own interpretation of what i can see in them, is the personalities of everyday people in their ‘real’ lives, with a very abstract and comedic edge.

I find her works very intriguing. I just love the texture and contrast in her paintings!

Trees of a Manufactured Life

May 9th, 2010

Trees of a Manufactured Life

I am currently working on a new collection of wire sculptures!

The collection is called ‘Tree’s of a Manufactured Life’.

The trees will comprise of wire and metal objects that may be found around a construction site. They are to represent the rise in disposable manufacturing, things built to be replaced. Trees are known to be strong and mature, to live through centuries of tests by mother nature. However what of the ones built purely for the manufacture of temporary products and structures?

Unlike these, a Kelly Jade ‘Tree of a Manufactured Life’ will live forever with a loving and safe place in your home! I plan to hold an exhibition as well as having the trees on the site for sale.

More information will be available when they are complete @ -
